I’m a Coke addict. OK, that sounds pretty bad, so let me rephrase it - I’m a Diet Coke addict. I usually don’t drink it every day, mostly on the weekends when we go out to eat. Ah, the taste of those sweet tingly tiny bubbles on my tongue as I sip the yummy caramel color soda through my straw… Diet Coke is one of my little pleasures in life. Diet Pepsi? Not so much. Actually I can’t stand the taste of it (is that what antifreeze tastes like?) and I hate being stuck in a restaurant where it’s their only diet cola choice.
Now, being a marketing professional, I enjoy watching good commercials. Since we don’t have cable TV (more of that topic in the near future), I watch commercials on the internet, so I have to thank YouTube for bridging the communications gap for me. Here’s the very latest on the Coke / Pepsi war as a remake of the original Pepsi vs Coke commercial from 1995 – today it’s Pepsi MAX versus Coke Zero. Pepsi has done a great job at integrating technology advances in this version and the clip ends with a funny twist. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

lol @ coke addict! I’m a recovering coke addict – definitely tough to kick the habit and every now and then, especially during cookouts, I’ll have to drink a can or two :-P
Awesome commercial! I vaguely remember the original
I’m never giving up that stuff, it’s just too good! I’ll have to dig up the old commercial, just for good old times sake.
Is this a magical Pepsi this guy is drinking? If you notice that he grabs the Pepsi with his right hand which covers up the can for viewing from the Pepsi drivers perspective. But when the Pepsi driver then pulls out his smartphone, the Pepsi Max is in the Coke drivers left hand, then back to the right hand after they change camera’s. I guess the ad agency had to use to magic to promote the product because the Coke drivers hand would have covered most of the can from the Pepsi driver.
Haha, thanks for noticing that! That’s quite brilliant, borderline excessive, product placement. From whichever camera angle you look at that can, it consistently displays the Pepsi logo.
I’ve seen this commercial just about 100 times and still don’t understand the premise of the commercial. I just don’t understand why this is funny and I’m missing something.
There talking about Pepsi Max/Coke Zero. Driver of Pepsi Truck shows youtube clip. Pepsi driver gets thrown out window. How is that funny?
What is on the YouTube Video? How is that enough to throw him out the window? Is there a prequel to this commercial?
Could you get back to me because you obviously find it hilarious. I personally am perplexed and mystified as how they, in my opinion, could air and re-air such a stupid commercial. Again, I must be missing something. Let me know.
OK, never mind. I figured it out. I guess I should have been paying closer attention.
Clever. I can’t believe it took me that long to figure out.
I’m glad you figured it out. No Coke guy wants to be seen on Facebook drinking a can of Pepsi! Ah, the power of the internet…
